This creature started with the idea of what a predator that moved like an orangutan might look like. From there I added features of a gecko, chameleon and Northern Shrike bird.
This creature is very vocal, inhaling and reverberating large quantities of air through their thick throat chambers. Their main calls are whooping howls and series of deep booming noises, much like those of an alligator. These calls carry far, allowing for a surprisingly sophisticated long distance communication between Howlers. When a group of Howlers join together to hunt large groups of prey, they use these calls to cause disorientation in their targets.
